Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
